Apprentice Role Profile - Business Investment Funds
Name: Sophie Ware
Role: Business Investment Funds Apprentice
Location: Thames Valley Park
After I left school at 16, I went to college for two years and studied English, Business and ICT A-Levels. At 18, despite all my friends moving away, I decided that University wasn’t for me, so I started looking at apprenticeships…
When people say ‘Microsoft’, it’s such a cool, modern, techy company to work for. It’s great to get an insight into such a successful, global company at a young age; and being an apprentice here, it is essentially experience for life.
The application for my role included:
- Online application
- Psychometric tests
- Phone interview
- Video interview
- Skype interview
- Assessment centre
The most challenging thing about the process was either the video interview or the assessment centre where you had to talk about yourself. You really have to sell yourself and create a good image – without being too pushy of course!
Top tip for the process – don’t be anything else but yourself!
I am a Business Investment Funds Apprentice in SMS&P (Small, Mid-Market Solutions and Partners). I work with the process where we give our partners funding in order them to carry out projects with their customers, and in turn we get a return on investment. My role includes reporting and analysing data and working with PSE’s (Partner Sales Executives) to help manage projects and get them completed on time.
Don’t stop until you get here… being offered this job was one of the best things that’s ever happened to me!
My experience of the company so far
MY experience of the company so far - So cool. You are not limited to just your role, so far I have been involved in Future Decoded, Xbox Days, DigiGirlz and other internal events that happen here. Microsoft is so diverse and you meet so many different people; it’s a great company to work for.
Everyone is so happy and helpful all the time; even on a Monday! Anybody here would be happy to sit down and have a chat with you about their job role, or anything, over a coffee. Everybody wants to help you succeed.
My #1 Top Tip for making the most of your apprenticeship
Make the most of all the opportunities that come your way, and you will do well and get noticed!
