#BeAGameChanger Awards with Women’s Sport Trust

The Women’s Sport Trust “raises the visibility and increases the impact of women's sport through the promotion of role models, increasing media coverage and improving funding. We are a leading UK charity focused on using the power of sport to accelerate gender equality.*”

On the 12th May Microsoft attended as the Headline sponsor for the #BeAGameChanger Awards at the Rambert Studio in Shoreditch, London. I had the opportunity to help out with the planning and marketing/promotion stages of the event, meeting the joint Co-Founders Tammy and Jo, and collaborating with them to create some great content for the lead up to and post the awards.
As well as this, I was asked to help recruit volunteers for the day and evening, which I ended up doing as well. Sophie and Sania, two fellow apprentices and great friends of mine, thankfully offered their time, and we all set off to London.

When we arrived to the studios, it was a bare room with a small stage being set up at the back. We couldn’t believe that in only a few hours an awards evening was going to be held there – with the likes of Clare Balding, Judy Murray and Olympians Anna Watkins, Lizzie Yarnold, Jenny Jones, Sophie Christiansen and Louise Hazel.

We worked hard all afternoon, creating goodie bags, setting up furniture, dressing tables and generally running errands. We couldn’t have been more proud of the final result!

As the venue is traditionally a dance studio, we made sure we had some time to practice our skills at the ballet bar. I think you can decide for yourself whether we were any good.

It was a great project to get involved in, and was a great success!
I am looking forward to next year - well done to those that won at the awards!
