NATASHA'S DIARY: What do you do on a daily basis?
What did you do on a daily basis?
I get asked this question a lot, and it never fails to leave me speechless for a few moments, while I try to sum up in words what it is I actually do. Don’t get me wrong, I do A LOT and have a lot to say about it, but my day to day experience is never the same! Instead I will explain to you a little bit about my role and my commitments for the year.
I am an Audience Marketing Manager in the Developer Platform Evangelist (DPE) department. I work mainly with students and start-ups in the app market, which right now is an extremely exciting area to be in. To put it simply, my job is to get people excited about and creating apps using Microsoft’s platforms. I do this through going around telling people a bit about the platforms themselves, showcasing current apps at cool events, and generally meeting some of the most innovative and crazy minds of the future… It truly is an entrepreneur’s world out there!
Although I applied for a marketing role, it definitely has its elements of sales, as I am essentially trying to sell the idea of Microsoft platforms to our audiences and it requires me giving some pretty scary and big presentations. However, the job also allows me to think up some new and exciting ways in which to engage with our audience, letting me bring my marketing interests into the forefront of my daily work.
As you can see, it’s pretty hard to describe a typical day to day routine for me. One day I could be in the office in meetings and on calls, and the next I could be on a train in the bright hours of the morning, off to the other side of England to do a big presentation or the chance to go to a cool event… my possibilities literally are endless!!
