Intern Role Profile - Marketing

Hi, my name is Jack Gaylor and I am working as a marketing intern in the Public Sector Education Team. My role consists of helping to run marketing projects across public sector education to ensure scope and impact on delivery of these initiatives and events.

This role gives me great variation in projects and no week is the same. From organising events in London for Microsoft education partners to creating national marketing plans for new a project.

I am currently working on a marketing project called GetOnline@Home. This has involved developing a marketing strategy to raise the national awareness of providing affordable PCs to get people online. Working on a project like this gives me an insight into how multinational company’s structure marketing initiatives.

One of the best things about my internship here has been the experience and knowledge you gain from working at Microsoft. There are brilliant colleagues who really understand their field and make every project and event exciting to organise and plan, whilst ensuring you maximise your potential.

An event I’m looking forward to being a part of is BETT 2012. BETT is dedicated to showcasing the best in UK and international educational technology products, resources and best practice. BETT has enabled thousands of practitioners to enhance their knowledge of learning through technology.

Taking place each January at Olympia in London, BETT attracts more than 600 educational suppliers and around 30,000 visitors. It brings together the global teaching and learning community for four days of innovations and inspirations.

BETT is the world’s leading event for educational technology where education professionals can evaluate and purchase a comprehensive range of ICT products and services. From early years to universities, BETT is an indispensable part of the annual knowledge-gathering process, coming at a time when establishments are planning and budgeting for the new school year.

This event is a major part of our planning this year and I’m looking forward to making a real impact on the success of Microsoft at it.
