Job Title: Azure Solutions Specialist
Brief description of your job: A sales role in the Microsoft Azure business, selling cloud solutions to our Commercial and Public-Sector Enterprise Platform.
Job on a day to day basis: This year I have taken ownership of ISV (Independent Software Vendor) co-selling for the Enterprise Partner Group. Beginning with presenting our FY plan to the EPG Director, I created an internal marketing campaign to educate Azure sellers on this business initiative, and integrate ISV co-sell into the rhythm of business. This has involved engaging with 68 ISV partners, coordinating demand generation events to secure pipeline and facilitating the closure of this pipeline to fulfil the EPG scorecard metric.
Additionally, I have had an end-customer focus on transforming policing operations with the Azure platform and ISV solutions. I became the Azure specialist for a UK Police Constabulary and coordinated a cloud innovation day to showcase specific workloads they were looking to run in the cloud.
In addition to this work which has been a key focus for my internship year, I have been involved in projects with the marketing events team, the finance team and digital workplace team. So there is a plethora of opportunity to learn and grow as an individual outside of your role/team also.
What is the highlight of your role? Travelling to Dublin to deliver a 2-hour pitch to C-level board members of 10 Public Sector customers on how ISV solutions can transform their business operations.
Where are you based? Thames Valley Park
What concerns did you have before joining Microsoft? Are they still concerns? My main concern before joining Microsoft was my lack of business/technical expertise. As a Politics and History undergrad, I thought I would be completely out of my depth. However, Microsoft gives you the opportunity and resource to learn at a rapid rate. I can honestly say, that after completing my internship at Microsoft that I have gained a credible network, corporate and commercial skills and an understanding for how a business works.
